Overview
I wrote Mail Light because I needed to know if I had new mail with my monitor
turned off.
I didn't want beeps or other sounds in the middle of the night while I was
working on another computer not connected to the Internet. With Mail Light
running in the connected computer, I only have to look at the Caps Lock light in
the its keyboard. If it is ON, I know I have mail to download from my mailbox.
Install and Uninstall
I don't provide any installation because it is not necessary. Put the file
maillight.exe anywhere and run it. To uninstall delete the file maillight.exe
and the maillight.ini that will be created in your Windows directory.
Usage
Enter you POP3 account settings (get them from your mail client if you don't remember them).
Mark the option Connect on Start-up if you want ML to check mailbox every time it starts.
Mark the option Beeps if you want ML to make a beep sound when you have mail.
Mark the option Light if you want the Caps Lock LED turned ON when you have mail.
Choose a time interval (1 to 60 minutes) between each mailbox check.
Click the Start button and see if ML connects without problems to your mail server
If all of the above goes right, you only have to choose the way
you want ML to run.
Run it when needed or put it on the windows startup folder if you want ML to
start every time you boot your computer.
Please note that, with the Light option marked, you can't run ML 'in the tray'
(icon program not showing in the taskbar, only in the tray). This option is to
be used when you want to turn off your monitor.
Without the Light option marked you can hide and put ML in the tray with a mouse
click on the ML tray icon. Hide or Show ML with a mouse click on the tray icon.
The icon tray changes to light green when there is mail to download (fig.1) and
to gray when there isn't (fig.2). Also, when you put the mouse pointer over the
icon tray a hint balloon will show the number of messages waiting for you
(fig.3).

Clicks
Start button
Starts or resets the timer and initiates a new connection using the current
settings. Editing the POP3 account fields is disabled.
Stop button
Stops the counter and aborts any connection in course. Editing the POP3 account
fields is enabled.
Caps Lock ON/OFF button
Turns ON or OFF the Caps Lock light LED. Useful to change the Caps Lock state to
OFF if you are working on the computer and running ML with the Light option
marked and you have mail to download.
ML tray icon
Hides/Shows the program.
